Name: Mickey Baity
Occupation: Retired USAF Col.
Birthdate: February 4, 1945
Today is a very special day. My father turns 65! There are many reasons to celebrate his life, and even more reasons to appreciate him. He had an outstanding career as a fighter pilot, worked for the Under Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon, ran a successful consulting business and owned and operated a coffee shop with my mom and I. Now in retirement, he continues to be extremely active in his local community from being a member of the Civil Air Patrol, the Fernandina Beach Airport Commission, and volunteering his time to various other things around the community all which make him almost busier now that he is retired.
I owe a lot to my father. He impressed upon me the value of hard work and the importance of doing a job right the first time. He devoted many weekends when I was growing up taking me to the basketball court, helping me and pushing me to be the best I could be. All of that hard work and dedication he showed me, lead me into a college basketball career. A dream I could not have achieved without him. There are many other things I appreciate him for, but mostly I am thankful for his love and the guidance he has shown me throughout my life.
Today, I am very proud to say that he and my mother workout on a regular basis and are adopting a healthier perspective towards eating. This means they will be around a lot longer and will be able to travel, have fun adventures and continue to enjoy life for many years to come.
HAPPY 65!!!!

My father and Oscar, my 5 year old nephew.

Even at 65 he is hip and up to speed on electronics - with Isabel, my 10 year old niece.
Happy Birthday, Mickey!

Happy birthday to your dad, Kate. I can't to be retired and still have all the energy I want. Mostly I can't wait to be retired.
